How long must I retain technical documentation?

Technical documentation must be retained for at least 10 years — this is a hard minimum standard under GPSR. These records include design drawings, risk assessments, test reports, certificates, and quality control data. In practice, you need a digital storage system that is audit-proof (changes are traceable, deletions cannot occur). Cloud solutions such as SharePoint with version control or specialised compliance software are suitable for this. A paper folder in your office is insufficient and would result in fines during a regulatory inspection.
