A responsible person (representative) is an EU-resident contact who takes legal responsibility for third-country products and serves as the point of contact for regulators. You can take on this role yourself if you live in the EU and are willing to accept legal responsibility. Alternatively, you appoint a solicitor, compliance service provider or local representative. These costs typically range from €500 to €2,000 per year, depending on the scope and service model of your partner. Important: without appointing a responsible person, your import is legally prohibited and may result in market bans.
