Must I provide a privacy policy in multiple languages?

GDPR itself does not require multiple languages, but national data protection laws sometimes do. In Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands, authorities expect the privacy policy in the respective national language – this is why TikTok paid €750,000 in the Netherlands. For your German-language website: German is mandatory. If you actively advertise or sell in English or other languages, your privacy policy should be available there too. When in doubt, better one language too many than too few. This is a simple but frequently overlooked source of error. An audit of your offered languages and the corresponding legal information takes little time and saves trouble later.
