What is the difference between BTI and vZTA?

Both terms fundamentally denote the same instrument: a legally binding tariff classification ruling by a customs authority. The difference lies in terminology and scope following Brexit. vZTA is the German term for Binding Tariff Information under the European Commission's EBTI system, which applies uniformly across all EU member states. Under the UK system, BTI designates only rulings for goods movements to Northern Ireland or the EU since Brexit, whilst goods imported into Great Britain itself fall under the separate Advance Tariff Ruling. Using both terms synonymously creates confusion about which authority has jurisdiction.
