How long is a vZTA valid?

According to the European Commission's Taxation and Customs Union, a vZTA remains valid for three years from the issue date. During this period, it binds all customs authorities in EU member states and the ruling holder equally, irrespective of which country issued it. The British BTI for goods movements to Northern Ireland or the EU is also valid for three years, according to GOV.UK. You must renew the ruling before expiry if you continue to import or export the same category of goods, as it does not extend automatically after the expiry date.
