What is EZT-online and why do I need it in addition to the HS code?
EZT-online is the Electronic Tariff system of German customs and represents the national level, which a pure HS code or TARIC code does not fully cover. Whilst the HS code classifies the product uniformly worldwide, EZT-online additionally shows the binding eleven-digit German tariff number including national excise duties and special provisions. For legally compliant customs declarations in Germany, the European classification alone is therefore insufficient. The Chamber of Industry and Commerce for the Stuttgart region (IHK Region Stuttgart) explicitly recommends that importers check the European and national levels in parallel – the Conformis-Pflichtencheck combines precisely this in one result.
